ACM mill throughput (kg/h) is not a fixed value. It depends on ACM model size, target particle size, material hardness, density, feed moisture, hammer configuration, airflow and classifier speed. For the same machine, finer product = lower kg/h output. Coarser product gives much higher hourly capacity.
Typical ACM Production Capacity Range (industrial standard, mineral processing)
- Lab / small pilot ACM: 10 ~ 150 kg/h
- Medium industrial ACM (common for diatomaceous earth, fillers, minerals): 200 ~ 1200 kg/h
- Large industrial ACM: 1200 ~ 4000 kg/h (1.2–4 ton/h)
Reference example for soft brittle minerals like diatomaceous earth:
- 120 mesh (coarse): near maximum rated throughput
- 800 mesh (fine): throughput drops by 40–60% compared with coarse setting, because more internal re-circulation of oversized particles inside the grinding chamber
Key factors changing ACM kg/h output
- Target particle size / mesh
Higher mesh (finer powder) reduces hourly output. To make 800 mesh, the classifier rejects more coarse particles back for re-grinding, raising internal circulation load and limiting feed rate. This directly links with hammer count: more hammers create more fines but also increase circulation load and lower throughput. - Material properties
- Soft, porous minerals (diatomaceous earth): higher kg/h
- Hard, dense or abrasive materials (ruthenium, crystalline silica): lower kg/h, extra wear limits feed rate
- High moisture feed causes agglomeration, blinding and big throughput loss.
- Hammer configuration and rotor tip speed
More hammers or higher tip speed increases fines generation; the system can feed less raw material to avoid overload. Fewer hammers with moderate tip speed allow higher throughput for coarser grades. - Airflow and classifier wheel speed
Higher airflow can carry qualified fines out faster and raise capacity. High classifier speed for fine products restricts particle passage and cuts output. - Feeding stability
Loss-in-weight or steady screw feeding is required to maintain rated kg/h. Pulsed, unstable feeding reduces average throughput and causes PSD drift.
JACAN ACM reference
JACAN ACM series covers pilot to large mining/mineral models:
- Small JACAN ACM: 50–200 kg/h
- Mid-size JACAN ACM: 200–1200 kg/h
- Large JACAN ACM: 1200–4000 kg/h
All ratings are quoted for dry, soft mineral feed at a medium fineness setting. When running fine grades such as 800 mesh, the published capacity number must be derated.
Important note
Manufacturer datasheet capacity is always a reference value under ideal test conditions. Real site output will be lower for harder materials, finer PSD, high moisture, or inert gas closed-loop operation (like ruthenium, LFP). Pilot testing is recommended to confirm actual kg/h for your specific ore or powder.
ACM mill output typically ranges 10 kg/h for lab scale up to 4000 kg/h for large industrial units. Finer particle size, harder material and high internal recirculation all reduce the hourly production rate. Hammer count adjustment changes fines yield and internal circulation load, which indirectly affects achievable kg/h throughput.
